Defining the Profession Behind the Age of Intelligent Autonomy
The Agentic Engineering Institute (AEI) is the world’s first professional institute dedicated to Agentic Engineering — the discipline for designing, constructing, and governing intelligent, autonomous, and trustworthy systems.
Founded by Yi Zhou, globally recognized AI thought leader, award-winning CTO and CIO, and author of Agentic AI Engineering and AI Native Enterprise, AEI was established to define the principles, standards, and professional identity of this new engineering era.
AEI is the global home for engineers, architects, and leaders who are building the profession of Agentic Engineering. Members advance the field through training, certification, research, and collaboration. AEI’s core frameworks, including the AEBOP Body of Practices, the Agentic Stack, and its maturity and governance standards, provide a practical blueprint for designing production grade, enterprise grade, and regulatory grade cognitive systems.
We are building the profession that will shape the next era of applied intelligence. Our mission is to ensure that every agentic system is engineered with rigor, grounded in human values, and trusted to operate in the real world. AEI exists to protect the public interest, elevate the standards of practice, and empower the people who design, deploy, and govern advanced cognitive systems. We believe that intelligence should amplify human capability, strengthen institutions, and unlock progress that benefits everyone.
Yi Zhou founded AEI to bring structure, integrity, and professional discipline to the rise of agentic systems. Drawing on experience building FDA-cleared AI and enterprise platforms, he championed a simple truth: intelligence must be engineered. AEI exists to ensure that humans remain in control, that cognitive systems reflect human intent, and that trust is engineered from the start. The future of applied intelligence depends on professionals who uphold the highest standards of practice, governance, and responsibility.
The Principles That Guide the Discipline of Agentic Engineering
Intelligence must be engineered with discipline.
Safety and reliability are engineered, not assumed.
Agency belongs to people. AI amplifies it, not replaces it.
Standards turn good practice into great outcomes.
Real systems. Real value. Real results.
The discipline grows through collective expertise.
If you believe AI should be engineered with rigor, transparency, and human purpose — join AEI. Become part of the #1 global network for agentic engineering professionals shaping the systems that will define the next decade.
