AEI Certification Program

Practical, role-aligned certifications built on real-world scenarios

The AEI Certification Program validates practical mastery of the skills required to design, build, operate, and lead production-grade agentic systems.

Each certification is earned through AEI training + a practical exam based on real-world implementation challenges.

Certifications are exclusive to AEI members, mapped directly to the AEBOP (Agentic Engineering Body of Practices), and updated regularly to track the rapid evolution of the field.

Certification Levels

CAE — Certified Agentic Engineer

Best for: Builders, software/ML/AI engineers, technical practitioners
Focus: Mastering the technical foundations required to build production-grade agentic systems.

Course Requirements

To earn the CAE designation, members must complete:

  • Tier 0: Orientation (Course 1)

  • Tier 1: Foundations (Courses 2–6)

  • Tier 2: Cognition Loop (Courses 7–12)

Total: 12 required courses

What CAE Certifies

A Certified Agentic Engineer can:

  • Build reliable agentic components across the Agentic Stack

  • Implement memory, context, knowledge, reasoning, and orchestration patterns

  • Configure runtime behaviors, guardrails, and trust controls

  • Develop production-ready cognition loops and multi-step workflows

  • Apply AEI best practices to real-world engineering challenges

CAE is the core technical credential for professionals building the next generation of applied-intelligence, agentic systems.

CAA — Certified Agentic Architect

Best for: System architects, senior engineers, solution designers
Focus: Designing complete agentic systems with reliable cognition, trustworthy behavior, and scalable enterprise integration.

Course Requirements

To earn the CAA designation, members must complete:

  • Course 1 (Orientation)

  • At least 2 courses from Tier 1 (Foundations)

  • At least 2 courses from Tier 2 (Cognition Loop)

  • All Tier 3 courses (System Design & Architecture, Courses 13–17)

  • At least 2 courses from Tier 4 (Execution & Operations)

Total: 12 required courses or more

What CAA Certifies

A Certified Agentic Architect can:

  • Design end-to-end agentic systems using the full Agentic Stack

  • Architect cognition loops, memory structures, trust fabrics, and UX flows

  • Create complete system blueprints combining models, runtime, data, and orchestration

  • Apply robust integration patterns across enterprise environments

  • Ensure reliability, observability, security, governance, and trust-by-design at the architectural level

CAA is the professional credential for leaders responsible for architecting scalable, production-grade cognitive systems across the enterprise.

CAL — Certified Agentic Leader

Best for: Directors, VPs, executives, transformation leads, PMs, strategy leaders
Focus: Leading AI-native enterprise transformation, designing organizational capability, and scaling agentic systems responsibly across the business.

Course Requirements

To earn the CAL designation, members must complete:

  • Course 1 (Orientation)

  • At least 5 courses from Tier 1 to Tier 4

  • All Tier 5 courses (Leadership & Scaling, Courses 21–24)

Total: 10 required courses or more

What CAL Certifies

A Certified Agentic Leader can:

  • Drive AI-native transformation across functions, products, and operations

  • Design organizational structures, roles, and capability models for agentic work

  • Define enterprise-grade governance, trust, and operating systems

  • Evaluate technical and strategic readiness using the Agentic Maturity Model

  • Align engineering, product, operations, and business teams around scalable agentic systems

  • Make informed, high-impact decisions grounded in AEI’s discipline and best practices

CAL represents strategic mastery of the discipline — preparing leaders to build, fund, govern, and scale agentic engineering across the enterprise.

Certification FAQs

Who can earn an AEI certification?

Any active AEI member who completes the required courses and submits the scenario-based exam.

Do I need industry experience to become certified?

No prior experience is required. The program is designed for a new, emerging field.

Your mastery is demonstrated through training and scenario-based assessments.

How long are certifications valid?

All certifications are valid for 2 years, reflecting the rapid evolution of agentic systems.

Renewal is simple:

Retake the updated scenario exam or complete the most recent version of the top-level course for your certification tier.

What are the certification fees?

Certification fees are still being finalized for launch, but will follow a simple structure:

  • CAE — Certified Agentic Engineer: TBD

  • CAA — Certified Agentic Architect: TBD

  • CAL — Certified Agentic Leader: TBD

Fees include exam access, grading, digital badges, and directory listing.
Final pricing will be announced before the certification program opens.

What do the certification exams look like?

AEI exams use 3–5 real-world prompts, not multiple-choice questions.

Prompts reflect actual work in agentic engineering, including:

  • designing cognition loops or workflows

  • sketching architectures or integration patterns

  • recommending trust, governance, or safety strategies

  • outlining Ops or QA plans

  • writing implementation steps or pseudocode (optional)

Exams validate real capability—not memorization.

How do I register for an exam?

Once you complete the required courses for your certification, you can register by emailing certificate@agenticengineeringinstitute.com.

You’ll receive the exam link, instructions, and submission guidelines directly from the AEI Certification Team.

Where can I display my certification?

You’ll receive a digital certificate and LinkedIn-ready badge.

Graduates are also listed in the AEI Certified Directory.
